As the temperatures officially cool and we set our sights on chilly forecasts, the color palettes in our latest collection takes on a decidedly richer, deeper tone—like precious stones. From a pretty amethyst to deep tanzanite, along with rich hues of burgundy and merlot, the colors of our October Collection are luxurious and have varying shades of purple. We trained the spotlight on this regal hue for our latest catalog, so if you’re looking for some cold-weather inspiration or how to let purple reign your fall style, read on.

Deep Plum Velvets

Johnny Was is synonymous with our fall and winter velvet collections, the luxe texture pairs perfectly with our bohemian aesthetic. This year, we updated other signature—embroideries—with a tone-on-tone purple treatment, combining this distinctive fabric with ornate stitch work. On the Althea Velvet Maxi Dress and the Althea Velvet Peasant Blouse, the stunning shimmer and drape of the velvet get a custom update with an all-over embroidery that feels elegant and perfect for a holiday party or date night.

Another velvet option that can be dressy or casual, depending on how you style it, is the Patchwork Velvet Cropped Kimono, with its silky texture and patchwork look, combining purple with deep greys, blacks and toffee. We styled it with the Olga Jogger and a camisole, but it could easily be dressed down with casual denim like the Skinny Jean and a long-sleeve tee.

Brilliant Berry Button-Ups

A classic button-up shirt is a fall essential, and even more so when you add a dash of purple. For this autumn collection, we took an essential plaid and interspersed panels of contrast floral prints in wine hues on the Mulberry Rose Print Mix-up Shirt, while the Mulberry Rose Mandarin Ruffle Blouse features the same floral print on a re-imagined peasant blouse with demure ruffle details at the neckline and cuff.

Auvergne in the Outdoors

The quickest way to make an autumnal style statement is a plush coverup like the Rose Faux Fur Jacket, crafted of luxe faux fur in a classic cocoon silhouette. For our catalog, we styled it with the Scarlet Cobra Velvet Oversized Shirt, skinny jeans and boots, but this elegant coat could easily go to a holiday gathering slipped over a party dress like the Maude Mesh Dress.

For a weekend casual pop of purple, slip into a plum lounge suits like the Tinasha Velour Pullover Hoodie and Tinasha Velour Jogger. Designed to be warm enough for a Sunday morning hike but cozy enough to snuggle on the couch with a latte and Netflix. The plush purple is enhanced by detailed embroidery and the only accessory you need to add is the Celestial Sneaker for hiking and the Ardell Slipper for screen time.
