How To Pick A Winter CoatNovember 8 2019
If there was a slogan for winter coats this season it would be, “go big or go home.” Whether you live in the snowy Michigan, cool California or mild Florida, every closet needs a gorgeous coverup and this winter, the best ones are making a statement with faux details and all-over prints. “Getting a great coat is always one of my favorite things to buy in the winter,” says Amy Valentine, VP of Design. “It is the one piece that can make or break your outfit, so why not pick something that is bold and feels luxurious.” To help you get covered, we’ve rounded out our top four styles from our latest collection and they are all bold, beautiful and ready to bundle you up. Take your pick.
Puff It Up
A puffer is the choice of most coat shoppers, but for a long time the only options were somber solids in shades of black, olive or brown. The Lux Puffer Jacket comes in an on-trend spicy mustard, plus we’ve added subtle contrast stitch work all over. The silk velvet adds a subtle sheen that can easily go from day-to-night. We love this with jeans but it looks just as chic with a tailored trouser.
All About Sherpa
A plush Sherpa is one of the hottest fabrications of the winter and it’s easy to see why—it’s the coat equivalent of a cozy blanket. The Hilyno Sherpa Coat features this eco-chic fuzzy lining while the outside has an all-over print in a patchwork of some of our most popular prints. The collar is exaggerated to keep your neck and shoulders toasty and the silhouette flares out a bit at the waist. It’s super flattering and easy to layer over a chunky knit.
Fabulous Faux Fur
Not only is it the eco option for winter but it’s also the on-trend coat for the season with bold faux fur popping up all over the runways for winter collections. The Palermo Fur Coat is our idea of basic black with a Johnny Was signature twist since it features an all-over embroidery of seasonal blooms. While it seems bold, the versatility factor is huge—it’s great with denims and layered over a sweater, but also equally chic topping your holiday dress for a night out.
Put it in Reverse
Planning on hitting the slopes or live somewhere with a serious chill factor–the Kashim Reversible Parka is down-filled and features a double-sided nylon shell with one side being a muted grey, while the flipside is a pretty print of winter florals. The hood gives extra coverage and there deep pockets to stash all your gloves. Ski holiday anyone?
So this winter, you don’t have to sacrifice personal style for function or fun prints for something practical with pockets. Head on over here to check out coats, jackets and puffy parkas. The snuggle is real.
