The Wild Bunch: Spring's Freshest Print
For the past few seasons, one of the mainstays on the runway, red carpet, and everybody's closet has been a chic animal print. From tiger stripe, and snake to zebra, everyone is embracing the bold beauty of Mother Nature's uniquely beautiful patterns. "I think of animal print as a neutral," says Theresa McAllen, our SVP of Design. "Although they can come across very bold, if worn right they can be elegant, luxe and even pair with other prints like a spring floral."
Here's a preview of our new favorite Oksana Collection which will put a leopard spring in your step.
The Surf Report
If you're going to be spending any extended time in the water, we suggest the Oksana Neoprene One Piece. It has covered shoulders, an easy-on zip closure and is crafted from a UPF 50+ sun protection fabric so it's the smart choice if you're going to be floating for any amount of time. The leopard spots are perfectly highlighted by the panel of royal blue and roses up the sides.
Lounge in Leopard
A sleek maillot silhouette that features a versatile side cinch at the hip and ties with a cord -- you can decide how much leg you'd like to show. The v-neckline of the Oksana Ruched One Piece also has molded interior cups which makes this style extra flattering for the décolletage. The all-over muted leopard print feels elegant and sophisticated while the red tassels add a pop of color.
A Cool Kaftan
A perennial favorite style at Johnny Was, this season we crafted the Oksana Long Maxi Cover Up from a cotton silk woven which lends a laid back elegance to the easy kaftan. The leopard print adds a visual interest while also perfectly complimenting the bold trim and scooped hemline. Ideal at dinner or on the dance floor but equally at home in a lounge chair.
A Wild Tunic
The way to pair animal prints with other bold designs is to watch the scale and keep the animal print more subtle so it recedes into the background, like on the Oksana Panel Short Cover Up. This pop-on dress is the silhouette of the season with its voluminous sleeves and fuller skirt, all trimmed with a bold floral that gets an extra stand-out boost from the muted leopard.
