Vacation Ready: Beach Bag EssentialsJune 12 2018
We are big on travel. Our last two catalogs were shot on the sandy shores of Australia, and our monthly collections find inspiration from every corner of the globe. “Travel is my favorite color,” says Theresa McAllen, our VP of Design. “Nothing inspires me more than a great summer vacation and this year my husband and I are going to Puglia in Italy, and then to Tulum, which is one of the most beautiful, relaxing spots on the planet.”
So, with air miles and sandy beaches on our minds, we put together the ultimate beach bag. Let’s get ready for vacation mode.
Pack a sturdy tote. For beach or pool visits, pick a bag that’s big enough to store water bottles, sarongs and the latest best-seller, but also crafted from a fabric that’s OK to get wet like cotton or linen.
Don’t leave home without them. Our new sunnies have a UV400 protection for eyes (the most you can get) and hard lenses that stay protected from most scratches. For warm weather vacations, look for larger frames that cover the whole eye area.
Choose an outfit that works seamlessly on-or-off the sand. Even when you go to the beach there’s always a quick excursion, even if it’s just for an ice cream cone. Dress for ease and comfort in natural fibers and relaxed silhouettes.
Pick a cover that can go out to dinner. Tunics or dresses are easy on-and-off but can also be dressed up in seconds if you go straight from the playa to the piazza. Also, nothing delivers natural “beach hair” in the p.m. better than a loose braid during the day.
Whether you’re in Malibu or Majorca, temps drop when the sun does so always carry a lightweight cardigan or sweater. This shot was taken in Hyams Beach, just outside of Sydney, and there is no prettier backdrop for our Soven Hooded Duster.
We hope you’re inspired to take a break and soak up some of the vistas in our beautiful world. Safe travels.
