Johnny Was Blog
On any given day, most of the women who work at Johnny Was are also wearing Johnny Was. One of the best parts of strolling through the hallways of our Los Angeles headquarters and popping into our stores is seeing how everyone gives our collections their own unique twist; whether you’re boho, a little rock ‘n’ roll or more classic, we all wear the pieces in our own way. To get you inspired for fall (we swear it will cool down soon), we asked around to see what’s hot in our closets.
“Since I am currently pregnant I am loving the all the kimono jackets! The prints are vibrant and fresh, and they are super easy to wear over a pair of stretch jeans and a tank top. I love anything that’s “throw on and go” so our tunics have also been key pieces for me during this transition time and, since I’m part of the design process, I know how much work goes into every piece at Johnny Was and I always feel special in our clothes.” – Lola Wydler, Associate Designer, Los Angeles
“I would describe my style as gypsy, plus since I live in Miami so always end up wearing a lot of light, flowy, happy colors like the Lomi Tank Dress from our summer collection. For fall, I love the way our denim fits and a lot of the Biya coats are amazing!”– Luana de Teves, Store Manager, Coral Gables, FL
“I’d describe my style as colorful and eclectic. I always love our dresses, and they’re the perfect transition pieces from summer to fall. Right now, I’m obsessed with the Mike Peasant Dress; the shape is easy and flattering and the color is beautiful.” – Rebecca Roggenstroh, Associate Merchant, Los Angeles
“I love our kaftans like the Parnaz, which I still wear because they are so easy to dress up or down. I would describe my style as effortless but with a personal flair and right now I’m also obsessed with all the Johnny Was denim—jean jackets, skinny jeans, embroidered—I love it all because it’s comfortable and super flattering.” – Brenda Champney, East Coast Regional Manager, FL
“I don’t have a lot of rules when it comes to my own style, but I always try and inject some personality into my outfits. My favorites are our gauze tops from Pete & Greta and anything else I can pair with jeans, whether it’s a blouse, button-down or a tunic. For fall, I’m also loving the more oversized tops.” - Emma Russell, Director of Buying and Merchandising, Los Angeles
