Johnny Was Blog
The Summer of LoungeJuly 22, 2019
While some of your closets get switched out with the seasons (think hot weather linen for heavier fall knits) one thing that is a perennial staple is loungewear. We released our first collection last year and it’s been a Johnny Was favorite ever since. “We wanted our loungewear to feel extra special and luxe with elevated fabrications and striking prints,” says Theresa McAllen, our VP of Design. “We also created separates that you can combine with other pieces in your wardrobe so they look just as gorgeous outside of the house as they will on your couch.”
Here are a few of our latest favorites, as well as ways to wear them out (or stay in).
A spicy combination: One of the hottest shades of the season is mustard—it works on every skin tone and always looks chic. The Biscay Set (above) is the perfect combo to slip on some low slides and this look feels perfect for a casual p.m. dinner. With contrast trim and vintage-inspired floral print, it looks like a set you picked on an exotic vacation.
An updated classic: We crafted our classic pant and shirt set from luxury silk and added a subtle embroidery trim on the cuff as well as tortoiseshell buttons. Worn solo, the bottoms take on the silhouette of a relaxed trouser so are perfect with a white tank, or for the evening, a structured blazer.
Daytime Layers: “I wear the Hadley Pants over my yoga shorts all the time,” says Theresa. “That way I can go out and get a smoothie after a workout and still look cute.” The matching Cruz top can also be worn solo and unbuttoned as a lightweight jacket. Just pair it with jeans and a t-shirt for an everyday look that still feels unique.
