Stress-Free Holiday StyleDecember 14, 2018
Between work parties, family gatherings and cocktail soirees, this time of year can feel like one big “what am I going to wear” session staring into your closet. To streamline your holiday style, we’ve broken it down into four key looks that will get you through the season and sailing into 2019 with ease. “The trick to festive dressing is mixing it up with separates that can be both dressy and casual,” says Maritza Arrua, Director of PR & Marketing. “Don’t be afraid to pair unexpected patterns, textures and our favorite luxury fabric of the season, velvet.” So, if you’re looking for a little festive inspiration, here are our four top holiday scenarios and how to dress them up.
Date Night and Dressy
Keep it simple but eye-catching and opt for a one-and-done dress in a luxe fabrication like velvet or silk. Strategic embroidery in a contrast hue adds visual interest (like on our Othilia Velvet Kimono Dress) and lets you keep accessories to a minimum; we just layered on a few subtle gold and moonstone pieces from our collab with Logan Hollowell. Add some heeled sandals if you’re going formal, or short booties if you’re hitting the dance floor.
Laidback Cheer with the Neighbors
This one straddles the line between dressy and casual so keep the fabrications comfy but chic. You can’t go wrong with head-to-toe black and one of the most classic and on-trend pieces this season is the relaxed lounge coat (like our Velvet Smoking Jacket). Reminiscent of a classic men’s smoking jacket from the ’50s, ours is crafted from a luxe velvet with the traditional contrast piping; we paired it with a velvet legging, but it would be equally chic over a tailored trouser or a dark denim jean.
Cocktails with Co-Workers
If you’re going straight from the office to after-hours holiday cocktails, the quickest way to add a festive flavor to your workwear is layering on a colorful cover-up. Our Adley Embroidered Kimono has a unique, artisan feel with a bold print and embroidered trim, plus it easily tops a maxi dress or trousers. Keep the rest of your look understated and this single standout piece will have maximum holiday impact.
Holiday brunch with the Family
While you want to look festive you also want to be comfortable, especially if you’re the hostess. Keep it laid back and easy with a silky jogger like our Ray Satin Pull-On Pant. For tops, you can never go wrong with a classic peasant silhouette like our Ava Marrakesh Blouse, lightweight and eye-catching. Keep accessories to a minimum, bundle up in a warm (but not bulky) layering piece like our delicious Cashmere Travel Scarf.
