rsz_1scarf-minWhether you’re hosting a quiet celebration or hitting the town in lavish style, New Year’s Eve can be a time to choose the best of what your city has to offer.

At Johnny Was, we’ve found some destinations near and dear to our hearts (and our stores) to make the best plans to begin 2017.

If you’re near our store in Palm Beach, blogger and style goddess Darcy Jones recommends a few of her top spots

Her favorites include Buccan, with “fresh food and a killer vibe—it’s a party all the time,” or for rsz_buccan-mindinner and dancing, “head to Cucina—with a massively fun bar scene.” Another one of her recommendations is Camelot, filled with Jackie O and rsz_frames-minJFK Memorabilia—“this spot in downtown Palm Beach is perfect after the ball drops.” OR—for the “ultimate in elegance, try Cafe’ L’Europe! A gorgeous grand Paris Bistro—perfect for dressing up and listening to beautiful piano music.”

She says if you are just going to make it a date night, you should head to Flagler Memorial Bridge with a bottle of champagne and watch the fireworks off the intercostal barge. Sounds like a few perfect celebrations!rsz_pablo-min

Johnny Was in San Antonio is steps away from The Resort at La Cantera. They will welcome the New Year with an amazing meal and celebration named FELICE ANNO NUOVO. Unique wines, food and a special dessert will welcome 2017 in style.

Every celebration could use a little California Bubbly! If you live near our San Jose store and arersz_screen_shot_2016-12-28_at_92442_pm-min_1
thinking of heading north to Wine Country, we recommend celebrating with Sonoma’s own Iron Horse, a family owned sparkling wine producer. It’s been served at the White House for New Year’s Eve and for each of the last five presidencies. The Iron Horse Winter’s Cuvee is our favorite!

rsz_lights-minNear our store in Disney Springs, the shopping, dining and entertainment district of The Walt Disney World Resort— you can look skyward twice on New Year’s Eve to see “Starbright Holidays,” with 300 drones lighting up the horizon. A first of its kind, this “revolutionary new form of storytelling” is created with Intel technology and features multi-colored lights synched to music. Check out Disney Springs for more details and times. (David Roark, photographer)

Our new store in Boston is open and we are ready to celebrate! Our favorite radio superstar, Kiss 108’s Lisa Donovan, recommends checking out 6one7 productions since they “always have a great list of fun parties on NYE.” Also, “GEM, Empire, Red Lantern and The Estate have fun events. The Taj Hotel hosts a special 35 and over NYE Ball and for the younger set, the First Night Boston—“family-friendly events happening all day and night—-fireworks, parade—a great celebration!”

If you are content to stay home on this holiday, Stanford University Library hosts a streaming event of vintage jazz music at riverwalkjazz.stanford.edu. It’s a great way to catch some of the greatest music ever created without venturing out.

No matter your destinations or declarations for the New Year, know that Johnny Was wishes you peace and prosperity in 2017. Something you want us to explore in the coming months? Drop us a line at socialmedia@johnnywas.com.
