Greetings From Our Couch

At Johnny Was we truly value taking the time to create small luxuries, finding gratitude in the everyday and—let’s be honest—how to not completely lose our marbles while indoors. If you need some tips or inspiration or just want to look at a few seriously cute baby pics (never a bad time right?) here are two women of Johnny Was and how they are making the California “stay at home” order look seemingly easy, as well as how they’re helping their community at the same time.

Lola, Senior Designer

To be honest, I am happiest when I am with my family. My husband and I are both working from home at the moment so we break up the day into shifts to get our work done;  he’s up super early to get a jump start on his work while I take the morning shift with the baby and then we switch in the mid-morning and I schedule my work calls while she’s napping. Around lunchtime, we're all wanting some fresh air so we take our dog on a walk around the neighborhood and I slip on the Klios Short Hoodie because it’s cozy and colorful.

Every moment of raising your baby can feel so fleeting, and I feel like as parents we are constantly asking for time to slow down. Through this very crazy and unsettling time, I am choosing to look at the brighter side of things. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I feel like time has actually slowed down. There is no rush to get out the door since there is no place to be. The only place I need to be is, here, present in this moment. I've been journaling every day which is something I used to do a lot of. It keeps me mindful of my thoughts and it also brings a sense of gratitude to the everyday moments. My family is healthy and we are together. And for this, I am grateful.

How She’s Helping: Donating blood saves lives and so important, especially in a time like this. If you are a healthy individual you can make an appointment at the American Red Cross to donate.

In the past few weeks I have taken over my husband's home office and my family has been extremely supportive.  We’ve been doing lots of web conferencing with the Johnny Was team and it’s been successful so far, plus I feel like we’re in touch and not missing a beat, and I like to see their faces because we get along as friends and not just colleagues. I actually feel like my time at home may actually be MORE productive than some days in the office because there are less distractions and I’ve also eliminated my morning and evening commute. This makes me feel like I’m also getting some valuable time with my family.

I still make sure to get dressed everyday so I don’t slide into the habit of working in my pajamas, and I think it actually makes me feel better to shower, add a little lip gloss and I’ve been living in the Calmé Collection sweatshirts and utility pants for the past few weeks, they’re chic and so comfortable.

How She’s Helping: We have been donating to various charities and local community programs, specifically The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (, to help those who need it most. With the closure of the LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) there are sadly far too many children who depend on their schools for daily meals. It's crucial to support the good works of so many who strive to feed these kids.

Now more than ever we are allowed to slow down and to appreciate each moment. Spending more time at home means most of us aren't dressing up but dressing for comfort can still be fab. For more cozy looks, head over here.
