Holiday Chic Johnny Was StyleNovember 17, 2018
Everyone’s version of “home for the holidays” is slightly different. For some, it’s a winter wonderland with snowfall and roasting chestnuts, and for others, like all of us in Southern California, it’s a little more about cactus, cashmere and disco balls. “Our November catalog totally has a California holiday vibe,” says Karin Cole, the Creative Director behind all of our beautiful, monthly catalogs. “It’s a cool woman, living the dream in the November sunshine in an iconic mid-century house in Palm Springs.”
To give you an idea of what we love about this time of year, here’s a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at our holiday cheer. It’s a little bit cozy for those casual days indoors, but also packed with chic, dressed-up options for cocktails, parties and holiday cheer.
When it comes to downtime, there are fewer places we’d rather be than in Palm Springs. “This time of year the mornings and evenings are cool but days are temperate,” says Cole. “Plus, the bright colors and architecture always put you in a good mood.” For our downtime after the photo shoot, we stayed at the appropriately-named Holiday House, which features an intimate 28 rooms and artwork peppered around the property by the likes of David Hockney and Roy Liechtenstein.
Layering up poolside in the Gina Blouse and Ramble Pull-On Pant was a subtle nod to the season but still laid back. For dinner, we slipped on the Nina Burnout Maxi Dress topped off by the stunning Adley Embroidered Kimono and made a reservation at the James Beard award-winning restaurant Workshop Kitchen + Bar. “When it comes to the holidays, we wanted to show you our way of celebrating,” adds Cole. “That’s with lots of color, layers of velvet and silk, and a sprinkling of disco balls.”
