Some of our favorite looks for Valentine's DayFebruary 12, 2019
Whether it’s an intimate dinner with a significant other or a tête à tête with longtime best friend, getting a little dressed up for dinner is often as fun as actually leaving the house. To inspire you and also offer up some spring ideas for a dash of p.m. drama, we’ve collected a few of our favorites from our new Jade Collection. “Getting dressed up doesn’t have to feel too formal,” says Christy Whitley, senior designer of Jade. “I like easy silhouettes that have just been elevated with luxe fabrics and some fresh details.”
“Every woman should have some version of a little black dress,” says Christy. This one is perfect and the mid-calf length feels fresh for the season. A slip dress layered under this lace dress is the epitome of subtle sex appeal–you can show a hint of skin while still feeling covered up. While we styled it here with a casual clog, for a dinner date, pair it with a sandal or even an ankle bootie with a heel. Keep accessories low-key and let the dress be front-and-center.
A tunic can feel decidedly casual but when updated with some luxe details it quickly goes into evening mode. “Lace adds a feminine edge to any silhouette and also makes it feel a bit dressy,” says Christy. Wear this solo with a heeled sandal or, if it’s a chilly evening, layered over a solid black legging or slim trousers for a modern, chic look. Finally, don’t forget to add a few key jewelry pieces like a bold necklace or a few bracelets.
Look for feather-light fabrics with hints of sheer, they have a feeling of bohemia and romance rolled into one. This blouse is a gorgeous floral print in watery hues of dusty rose and sage. While it has a relaxed silhouette the sheer fabric stops it from feeling bulky and for going formal, we suggest layering it over a silk camisole and a fuller-leg trouser, both in the same hue. Alternatively, slipped over a slip dress would also look fabulous.
