Johnny Was Blog
A Beautiful Beginning in DallasJune 22, 2018
When we decided to open up a location in the NorthPark Center in Dallas, we knew this was the time to really show off our love of custom artistry. Not only is this mall home to some of the most stellar and iconic artworks by the likes of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Frank Stella, it makes your shopping (or dining) experience feel inspired and special as you get to wander through museum-worthy collections while also indulging in some retail therapy.
In keeping with the theme, for our newest boutique, we enlisted the talent of our old friend and celebrated LA artist, Sage Vaughn. “There’s a good amount of overlap between the motifs in my work and intricate embellishments in the line,” says the painter and illustrator, who is known for his stylized versions of all things Mother Nature like flowers, butterflies and mushrooms. “My friends at Johnny Was are so close to my heart, they are like family and I feel so lucky.”
His beautiful imagery wraps around our newest location and we couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop for our luxe, laid-back collections often inspired by our travels and the great outdoors. If you’d like to add some naturally-inspired Johnny Was prints or embroideries to your summer closet, two recent favorites are the Garden Cold Shoulder top or the Garden Arch Dress (Slip). If you want to see more from Sage (and it will truly brighten your day) go to sagevaughn.com.
