Aloha Spring Break!
March 27 2019Just in time for spring break, we opened up a gorgeous Johnny Was flagship store on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Aside from the inimitable 30 miles of beaches, tropical terrain and happy hours watching the sunset, this spot is one of pure inspiration of us. “The island life is super peaceful with a laid back aloha attitude,” says Luana de Teves, store manager at our oceanfront Whaler’s Village boutique. So, if you need any help packing or just getting into vacation mode, we’ve got Luana’s picks from Johnny Was as well her island hot spots.
JW: What’s trending in the Johnny Was store right now?
Luana: The Heidi Tonal Tunic in white, grey, and black is the current favorite amongst our customers; it’s got just the right amount of detailing to make it feel special. It’s such a relaxed vibe in Hawaii so even in the evenings out we are all about the Ibeyi Dress and the Kara Dress. The Eau De Parfum of the Talia fragrance is also a favorite, with the orange blossom and jasmine notes it’s like Hawaii in a bottle.
JW: What are some essential to pack from a spring break vacation?
Luana: Well, you can’t go on vacation without a bathing suit and the Ember Short Kimono with the matching bathing suit called Maya Halter Top Bikini and Maya Banded Bikini Bottom are gorgeous. Also, the Grace Sunglasses for sunny days and the Ornella Overnight Tote is great as airplane carry-on and then perfect for any day trips you do. Finally, vacation is all about shorts and a great tank and you can’t go wrong with our Harper Tank paired with the Burke Linen Shorts.
JW: Perfect, we’re all packed, now tell us where to go when we visit?
Luana: To the beach! The road to Hana is fabulous and you’ll see waterfalls and there are also endless hiking trails (pack some good sneakers and always carry snacks if you plan on going far). The water is obviously amazing and I always tell visitors to go whale watching and snorkeling.
JW: What’s your favorite spot?
Luana: I love Haleakala Crater, it’s a challenging hike but the sunsets and sunrises are totally breathtaking.
